Mapping Internal Knowledge Transfers in Multinational Corporations

Managing multiple knowledge transfers between headquarters and subsidiaries, among also within each of these units is crucial for multinational corporations’ (MNCs) survival. Therefore, this article aims to uncover the main factors influencing internal in MNCs—including intra-unit units, namely, conventional, horizontal, reverse transfers. To achieve goal, a systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted synthesize content 85 articles. From set 1439 papers, only related transfer sharing were considered. Based on an inductive thematic approach, eight different research categories 97 topics identified. Four (intra (IKT), horizontal (HKT), conventional (CKT), (RKT)) are compared across topics. According results obtained, depth analyzed varies, as does variety categories, with RKT being more deeply than IKT. There clear dominance vertical (CKT + RHT) over HKT.
